Keeping Healthy with Your Loved One
February 8, 2018Fallen Off The Wagon?
February 16, 2018Want to lose weight? Drinking water is more important than you realise. There are multiple reasons why staying hydrated, as well as the physical act of drinking water is an important part of your overall weight management plan.
Read on to find out why.
You might think you are hungry
Our bodies can send some mixed up signals sometimes. One of them can be the thirst/hunger cues. Sometimes when we gravitate towards the fridge looking for something to eat, we are in fact thirsty.
Most food does contain some water, especially things like fruit and vegetables, yoghurt, milk, ice cream etc. So by consuming these foods we do in fact help to hydrate ourselves to some extend.
But it’s far too easy to over-consume foods when we are acting out of thirst instead of real hunger. Strategies to overcome this include drinking a glass of water when you think you might be hungry, having a glass of water with all meals and snacks, and keeping a drink bottle with you that you can sip on all day.
Water helps clear your body of toxins
Water is necessary for your bodies to filter out toxins, waste products, and keep our bodies in balance. This can be especially important during weight loss when we are breaking down body fat.
Staying well hydrated means that your body weight measurements will be more accurate, and you will be less likely to think you have lost weight when you are in fact just dehydrated.
Water helps you stay focused
Just 1% dehydration starts to effect your ability to concentrate, your energy levels, ability to make decisions, respond to stimuli, as well as your physical performance when you are working out.
It seems logical that the clearer you head is the more likely you are to be able to develop a weight loss plan and stick with it.
